Explore the St. Lawrence River

South Dundas is very fortunate to be located on one of the greatest river systems in the world. The St. Lawrence River is a freshwater source that connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. Our Municipality offers you the chance to experience captaining your own vessel. Our Lending Library offers residents a wide range of equipment available to book, including kayaks, canoes, Paddleboards, and all other necessary equipment. As the ground thaws and crops begin to be planted across the fertile Agri-land within South Dundas, it will not be long until we are able to enjoy locally sourced products. But why wait? Take in some of the local attractions unique to our area

Play the role of a tourist in your own backyard. South Dundas is home to many unique attractions that cannot be found anywhere else. Take a step back in time and visit Upper Canada Village for a flashback to Canadian History and one of the first settlements our nation has to offer. You could also see one of the world’s greatest engineering marvels. The St. Lawrence Seaway lock system was constructed in 1959 to supply a transnational shipping route from the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes. Ships from all over the globe pass through the Iroquois Lock daily, be sure to look at the flags on the back to determine how far they have traveled!
