The long-awaited springtime weather has finally arrived! Now, we can all trade in our snowsuits for bathing suits, and snow blowers for lawnmowers and begin putting the ice back in our coffee. The Municipality of South Dundas shares the same excitement that we all have for this season and what it has to offer. Along with the spring weather, comes new activities within the Municipality. To begin, the snow has officially melted *breathes a sigh of relief* meaning that the Splash Pad has been cleared and is almost ready for action. The Splash Pad is in Earl Baker Park in Morrisburg, Ontario, and is scheduled to open this week, meaning that there is an exciting and refreshing way to beat the summer.

The recent heat also means that the river has begun its annual climb to swimming-friendly temperatures. We are just a few weeks away from the refreshing, teeth-chattering, first swim of the summer. As the water gets warmer, we get closer to the opening of the many beaches within the Municipality. Local beaches include Iroquois Beach, Morrisburg Beach, and Chrysler Beach. Water testing is scheduled to start May 24, 2022, to determine whether water quality is safe for swimmers. The beach platforms should be placed shortly after the beach has been opened and seasonal maintenance has been completed. Be sure to abide by all local regulations and enjoy the space in a respectful and safe manner. Reminder: Parking lots are for vehicles and grass is for beachgoers.
As the temperatures begin to climb and the flowers begin to bloom, we also would like to announce that a Garden Exchange will be occurring on May 28, 2022. The exchange will be found at the Municipal building parking lot in Morrisburg. As summer approaches we look back on yet another winter in the rear-view and begin to look ahead to the promises of Summer 2022!
